May 15, 201
Dear Parents and Guardians of Venerini Students,
It is hard to believe that it is already the midpoint of May and we have less than one month of school left. The cliché of “time flies” certainly is true; hopefully we can all add “time flies when you’re having fun”.
A couple of administrative notes - we have received reminder notices from Lifetouch Studios for those students/families who have not responded with a returned payment or picture package from the Spring Picture Day. These notices have been sent home with your child in his/her Family Folder. If you have any questions about payment, please contact Lifetouch. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Also, a reminder about the Spring Cash Raffle, which went home last week. There is still time to purchase tickets, 1 for $50 or 3 for $125. The first prize is $5000 and the second is $750. The drawing date is June 4th. There are more tickets available in the Main Office.
Many great field trips will be taking place in the next few weeks. Please make sure that your child is well prepared with the proper attire, equipment and lunches. On Thursday, our Science Fair winners will present their projects at the Diocesan Science Fair at Assumption College in the Plourde Center from 6:00PM – 6:45PM. Also after school on Thursday, we are expecting more than 50 new families who will be joining us for the annual New Family Event consisting of mini golf and a variety of other activities. We are hoping for both good weather and enough parking.
On Friday, the 17th, the first Annual Chairs for Derrieres (musical chairs contest), organized by Mrs. Sivo for the Boston One Fund, will be held in the gym from 5:30 to elimination. The final day for sign up is tomorrow, May 16th. On the 21st of the following week, we will have the Memorial Day Assembly at 8:45AM – 9:15AM in the Auditorium. Special thanks to Mrs. Cross and Mr. Gardiner for arranging this event. I feel that it is important that our students understand the significance of why we observe Memorial Day and this assembly will enlighten our student body. All families are invited to join us. Also on the 21st at 7:00PM, the FOV meeting will be held in the 1st floor computer room. This will be the meeting to present the slate of officers for the 2013 - 2014 school year. On Thursday, the 23rd, the staff looks forward to celebrating with the 8th graders and their parents at the Annual 8th Grade Dinner Dance at Acacia at Indian Meadows Country Club from 6:00PM – 10:00PM. This affair marks the beginning of the 8th grade graduation season which culminates in closing exercises for the class on Friday, June 7th in the Fusaro Chapel.
The will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday, May 24th as we observe Foundress Day and Monday, May 27th which is Memorial Day. We will resume classes on Tuesday, the 28th, which by the way is the last Hot Dog Day for the school year.
I also want to call your attention to the winners of last Thursday evening’s Student Art Exhibit. It was a wonderful show and special thanks to Mrs. Cross for her efforts in this major undertaking.
